Dates: 03/01/2026 – 05/31/2026
Schedule: Nights, full-time — three 12-hour shifts/week
Shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (includes sign-out)

Patient population and workload

  • Adult medical and surgical ICU patients
  • Typical APP census: 10–15 ICU patients per APP
  • Admissions: medical and surgical ICU admits
  • Rounding: performed each shift
  • Phone consults: as needed
  • Case mix: high-acuity, critically ill patients

Required procedures and clinical duties

  • Central venous line insertion (CVLs, vascaths, introducers)
  • Arterial line insertion
  • ICU patient assessment, diagnosis, management, and procedural care
  • Interpret diagnostics and labs; implement treatment plans
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds each shift
  • Communicate with attending physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary teams
  • Document all care in Cerner accurately and timely

Facility and support

  • EMR: Cerner
  • Equipment: standard ICU and procedural equipment available
  • Support: ICU nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams
  • Specialty backup: attending intensivists and specialty consultants
  • Reason for coverage: supplemental night shift coverage

Credentials and experience

  • Active state NP/APRN or PA licensure required
  • NPs: Acute Care Certification (ACNP)
  • PAs: appropriate national certification
  • Minimum of 12 years ICU experience as an APP
  • Proficiency in central and arterial line placement
  • Ability to work independently in a high-acuity ICU and communicate effectively with physicians and nursing staff

Privileges and compliance

  • Hospital privileges required
  • Case logs required for central and arterial line procedures
