We’re seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join a thoracic surgery team in Bridgeport, CT, on a locum tenens basis from July 20, 2026 through October 19, 2026. This role covers both inpatient and outpatient settings and focuses on adult thoracic surgery patients, including lung and foregut cases.

What you’ll be doing

• Serve as first assist in thoracic surgical procedures, including robotic and minimally invasive cases
• Round on inpatients, handle admissions and discharges, and respond to phone consults as needed
• Evaluate and follow up with patients in the outpatient clinic
• Collaborate closely with thoracic surgeons and the multidisciplinary surgical and nursing teams
• Accurately and promptly document all patient care

Schedule and coverage

• Clinical-only position
• 34 days per week, 10-hour shifts during the coverage period (07/20/2026–10/19/2026)

Patient population and case mix

• Adults only
• Admissions and daily rounding included
• Primarily thoracic surgery patients (lung and foregut)

Facility and support

• Standard surgical clinic and inpatient resources available
• Dedicated thoracic surgery team and multidisciplinary support staff on site

Privileges and compliance

• Hospital privileges required
• Flu vaccination required

Required qualifications

• Active state license in the applicable state
• National certification as a PA or NP
• Prior experience in thoracic (non-cardiac) surgery is required
• Hands-on experience with robotic thoracic surgery and comfort across inpatient and outpatient surgical care
• Ability to work across multiple Hartford Healthcare facilities
