Job Description
Job ID: NPPA - Critical Care
We’re seeking a seasoned Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to provide locum tenens coverage in the inpatient ICU at a Lawrenceville, GA hospital from May 5, 2026 through July 31, 2026. This is full-time day shift coverage — three 12-hour shifts per week (typically 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.) caring for adult medical and surgical ICU patients.
What the role looks like
- You’ll manage critically ill adults in a high‑acuity ICU, handle admissions and transfers as needed, and participate in multidisciplinary rounds each shift.
- You’ll collaborate closely with attending physicians to develop and adjust care plans, perform ongoing patient assessments, implement interventions, interpret diagnostic tests, and document care (H&Ps, consults, progress and procedure notes).
- Phone consults and rounding are part of the job when required.
Typical patient load and case mix
- Adult ICU patients (medical and surgical).
- Usual APP‑to‑patient ratio: roughly 10–15 ICU patients per APP.
- Expect to care for critically ill patients who may require invasive monitoring and procedures.
Procedures and skills expected
- Central venous line insertions (including vascular catheters and introducers).
- Arterial line insertions.
- Other invasive ICU procedures as allowed by hospital credentialing.
- You’ll need strong procedural proficiency and be prepared to provide case logs during credentialing.
Facility and support
- EMR: Cerner.
- Standard ICU equipment and a full complement of ICU nursing and multidisciplinary staff are available.
- Attending physicians are on site for specialty backup.
- This coverage is supplemental.
Requirements
- Active Georgia RN/APRN license.
- National certification required — Nurse Practitioners must be Acute Care certified.
- Current ICU certifications as required for practice.
- Minimum of 12 years of ICU experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
- Hospital privileges required.
Compensation and logistics
- Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance details are not specified; local candidates are preferred.
If you’re an experienced acute care NP comfortable managing high-acuity patients and performing invasive ICU procedures, this short-term locum assignment in Lawrenceville offers a focused clinical-only opportunity with strong onsite support.
