We’re looking for a skilled PA or NP to join a surgical oncology team in Minneapolis for a 13-week locum assignment starting March 9, 2026. You’ll work Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., providing clinical-only coverage across inpatient and outpatient settings for adult hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgical oncology patients.
What you’ll be doing
- Manage comprehensive care for surgical oncology patients: pre-op, intra-op assistance, and post-op management.
- Admit and round on inpatient surgical oncology patients as indicated.
- Perform patient assessments, develop diagnoses and treatment plans, and order/interpret diagnostic studies in coordination with attending surgeons.
- Prescribe medications, therapies, and necessary medical equipment.
- Provide wound and drain care (including removal), and assist in the operating room with patient prep, intraoperative assistance, and closure.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and act as a clinical resource and liaison to outside agencies.
- Document all care accurately and timely and handle phone consults as needed.
Who this assignment serves
- Adult patients undergoing hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgical oncology care.
- Case mix includes inpatient surgical admissions, perioperative and postoperative management, and outpatient follow-up.
Facility and support
- Adult Level III/IV trauma center.
- Standard inpatient and outpatient clinical equipment available.
- Surgical oncology attending physicians and multidisciplinary oncology teams provide specialty backup and support.
Credentials, compliance, and timeline
- Minnesota license required for quick start; NPs without a Minnesota license may still be considered.
- National certification required (NP or PA).
- Hospital privileges required; fingerprinting required and results must be posted prior to privileges.
- Typical credentialing timeline: approximately 8–10 weeks for NPs and 4–5 months for PAs.
- Orientation: 4 hours non-billable (required).
Experience and skills
- Prior experience in surgical oncology or inpatient surgical services preferred.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
Compensation & logistics
- Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided.
- Assignment length: 13 weeks starting March 9, 2026.
