Locum Pediatric Anesthesiologist — Night Shifts, CRNA Supervision, Epic (Charleston, WV)

We’re seeking a Pediatric Anesthesiologist to provide night coverage in Charleston, West Virginia, from June through December 2026 (with limited additional weeks possible before June). This is a locum tenens, clinical-only role covering inpatient and outpatient surgical cases. Shifts are primarily 10 hours at night (typically 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.), though occasional 8- and 12-hour shifts may be required. Call is not guaranteed but may be requested on an as-needed basis.

You’ll care for pediatric patients across the full spectrum of scheduled surgical procedures. The case mix includes a variety of pediatric surgeries and kidney transplant cases (no liver or heart transplants). Daily volume varies by site, and you should be prepared to float between assigned facilities as coverage needs dictate.

The hospitals use Epic for documentation, and standard anesthesia equipment and multidisciplinary surgical backup are available. You’ll work alongside CRNAs who require physician supervision as part of a hospital-based anesthesia care team model.

Required qualifications:

• Active West Virginia medical license (facility will not sponsor licensing)
• Board certification in Anesthesiology
• Active DEA and CSR
• ABA, ACLS, and BLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years’ pediatric anesthesiology experience
• Ability and willingness to supervise CRNAs and float between facilities

Administrative details:

• Hospital privileges are required; credentialing typically takes about 60–90 days
• Reason for coverage: expansion of anesthesia services across multiple facilities

Key responsibilities:

• Provide safe, timely pediatric anesthesia for scheduled surgical and procedural cases
• Supervise CRNAs in accordance with the facility’s care-team model
• Collaborate with surgical teams and other multidisciplinary staff to ensure optimal perioperative care
• Document care thoroughly and promptly in Epic
• Adhere to hospital policies, credentialing requirements, and quality standards
