Locum Tenens Pediatric Hospitalist — Eureka, CA (Inpatient, 24‑hr Call)

Join a team providing supplemental inpatient pediatric hospitalist coverage in Eureka, CA. This locum tenens assignment begins March 12, 2026 and continues on an ongoing basis to support a Level I nursery and Level II NICU. Coverage is call-only (beeper) on a 24-hour shift schedule (6:00 a.m.–6:00 a.m.) with a required response time of 20–30 minutes. Typical workload includes approximately two admissions and two discharges per shift, supported by RNs and Epic EMR.

Scheduled shifts to fill: Mar 12 (6a)–Mar 19 (6a); Apr 4 (6a)–Apr 6 (6a); Apr 22 (6a)–Apr 26 (6a). Required hospital privileges and credentialing are necessary; travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.

Procedural expectations:

• Neonatal and pediatric intubation (ETT/NT); most pediatric intubations likely occur in the ED
• Central line placement limited to neonates (UVC & UAC)
• Neonatal airway management, including intubation and emergent UVC placement in the delivery room
• Management of neonatal air leak/pneumothorax, including needle decompression
• Lumbar puncture and EKG interpretation
• Preferred: neonatal ventilator management and chest tube insertion

Requirements:

• Active California medical license
• BC/BE with 3–5 years post-residency experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
