Location: Cleveland, OH — Inpatient/Outpatient (Cardiothoracic Surgery)
Type: Locum Tenens — Clinical + Call
Coverage: Begins 01/30/2026; minimum 6 months (ongoing need, not guaranteed)
Schedule: Day shifts 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; weekday coverage as needed. 24-hour beeper call required (approximately one weekday and one weekend call per rotation, including holidays).

Scope of Practice

• Adult cardiothoracic surgical population: pre-op, post-op, ICU and step-down management, and phone consults as required.
• First and second assist in cardiac and thoracic cases.
• Thoracic procedures: robotic, VATS, open thoracotomy.
• Cardiac procedures: CABG, AVR, MVR, ascending aneurysm repair, dissection management.
• Vascular harvesting: endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting (Hemopro); open radial and endoradial artery harvesting preferred.
• ICU skills: temporary pacing wire removal, IABP manipulation/removal, chest tube sclerosis.

Facility & Team

• EMR: Epic.
• Support: Two cardiac surgeons, one thoracic surgeon, and five PAs; cardiothoracic surgeons on site.
• Equipment: Standard cardiothoracic surgical and ICU resources.
• Reason: Supplemental locum coverage; may require coverage across multiple hospitals within a ~15-minute drive.

Requirements

• Active Ohio PA license (facility will not sponsor state licensure).
• Active DEA registration and Ohio CSR.
• Current BLS and ACLS.
• Extensive cardiac and thoracic surgical experience, including ICU/step-down care.
• Proficiency with Epic EMR.
• Clean background check; NPDB report required at presentation.
• Local candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first/second assist in the OR.
• Manage surgical patients across preoperative, postoperative, ICU, and step-down settings.
• Participate in weekday, weekend, and holiday rounds.
• Provide scheduled 24-hour call coverage.
• Complete timely, accurate documentation in Epic and perform procedures in accordance with granted privileges.
