Requirements:

  • Valid state license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist or proof of eligibility.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA or eligibility to participate as an ASHA Clinical Fellow.
  • Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise CFYs, temporary licensees, students, and support staff in accordance with state licensure and professional standards.
  • Screen, examine, and evaluate patients to establish diagnoses, identify impairments, and develop treatment plans.
  • Implement and document SLP treatments in areas including cognitive-communication, speech intelligibility, oral motor skills, swallowing disorders, perception, orientation, memory, pragmatics, psychosocial expression, functional communication, and case management.
  • Coordinate and instruct patients in the use of adaptive communication devices.
  • Identify hearing deficits and refer for further assessment or rehabilitation.
  • Consult with physicians and the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to select and adapt therapeutic regimens for each patient.
  • Modify treatment plans through routine re-examination and progress evaluation.
  • Select and instruct patients in therapeutic activities appropriate to their physical/mental capacities, intelligence, and interests; evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
  • Coordinate home and community care with the interdisciplinary team and referring physician.
  • Adhere to department schedules, clinical and billing documentation requirements, and attend work-related and patient care meetings.
  • Order and maintain necessary supplies and equipment; report repair needs.
  • Ensure a safe environment by identifying and eliminating fire and safety hazards.
  • Refer patients to other disciplines or agencies as needed for comprehensive care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
