Job Description

Faculty position employed by the University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine, practicing in UT Health East Texas facilities.

 

UT Tyler School of Medicine and UT Health East Texas are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Joint Reconstruction Orthopedic Surgeon for a full-time faculty position in Tyler, TX.

This academic orthopedic surgeon job offers high-volume clinical practice, teaching, and mentorship within the first medical school in East Texas. Physicians practice in a large regional referral system with access to a Level I Trauma Center.

About the position:

 

  • Two New Two state-of-the-art orthopedic clinics in Tyler Midtown & South Tyler
  • New Medical Education Building (2026) with 8 operating rooms, robotics, and advanced arthroscopy
  • Patient volume: 20–25 patients per day
  • Case mix: 90% outpatient orthopedic surgery 10% inpatient
  • Schedule: Monday–Thursday 8–5, Friday 8–12
  • 4 hours/week of protected administrative time
  • Call: Up to 7 days per month
  • Support from experienced orthopedic surgeons with 2-20+ years of experience plus PAs and NPs

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is the first medical school in East Texas and the seventh in The University of Texas System. Its mission is to train future healthcare professionals to embrace responsibility for the unique needs of rural and hard-to-reach communities and populations, particularly those in East Texas.
