Job Description

Are you a bright and energetic emergency medicine (EM) physician with a passion for resident education? TeamHealth has an opportunity for a full-time EM residency program director (PD) to join our group at The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) in Brooklyn, New York. In this role, you will serve as the educational and cultural leader of the ACGME-accredited four-year Emergency Medicine Residency Program at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. Here you will be an inspirational physician-educator who shapes the professional identity, clinical excellence, and leadership development of emergency medicine residents and medical students in a high-acuity urban environment. Ideal candidates should be board certified in emergency medicine with a minimum of three years of experience as core faculty in an ACGME-accredited emergency residency program and possess the demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire EM residents throughout their training.

The program director has authority and accountability for all aspects of the residency program in accordance with ACGME Program Director Responsibilities and Emergency Medicine Program Requirements and provides oversight of the EM medical student clerkship.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide visionary leadership and define the educational mission of emergency medicine training at TBHC
  • Serve as the ACGME-designated program director, with responsibility for program oversight, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure resident competence across all ACGME Core Competencies and Emergency Medicine Milestones
  • Oversee resident and medical student recruitment, education, evaluation, promotion, remediation, and graduation
  • Foster a rigorous, supportive learning environment grounded in professionalism, accountability, and clinical excellence
  • Mentor residents, medical students, and faculty educators
  • Maintain an active clinical role as attending emergency physician and role model

Competitive compensation, with an estimated salary range of $160 to $188 per hour.
