Locum Interventional Radiologist — Acute Care IR & Stroke CT Coverage in Grass Valley (Travel + Lodging)

Join a busy acute-care hospital in Grass Valley, CA as a locum tenens Interventional Radiologist providing inpatient and outpatient coverage. This is supplemental clinical coverage with ongoing shifts beginning Feb 23, 2026.

Schedule & Coverage

• Coverage period: Feb 23, 2026 – ongoing
• Shifts: Feb 23 & 24 and continuing; typical primary shift 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
• Call: nights and weekends
• Service setting: ED, inpatient/observation, ICU and outpatient building (including contrast CT/MR and breast biopsies as needed)

Clinical Volume & Case Mix

• ED volume: ~85–90 patients/day; admissions: 12–15
• Inpatient/Obs/ICU: ~50 patients/day
• Daily imaging/procedures: ~50 studies and 4–6 IR procedures
  • CTs: 12–15/day
  • X‑rays: 15–20/day
  • Ultrasound: 8–12/day
  • IR procedures: 4–6/day
• Case mix: surgical, medical, ICU and obstetrics

Primary Duties

• Provide interventional radiology procedures (predominantly percutaneous): biopsies, drains, aspirations
• Manage thoracentesis, paracentesis, nephrostomy tubes, intra‑abdominal abscess drainage, chest tubes, suprapubic catheters, and tunneled catheter placement when required
• Perform image‑guided biopsies (thyroid, lung, others)
• Acute care imaging including Stroke CTs, ED and ICU studies
• Occasional coverage for outpatient building 4: contrasted CTs/MRIs and breast biopsies
• Collaborate with a large Sacramento radiology group for overflow and after‑hours reads; supported by radiology nurses and techs

Required Skills & Credentials

• Active CA medical license
• Board certified or eligible; fellowship completed
• DEA registration
• BLS certification
• CA fluoroscopy certification
• Demonstrated procedural skills and acute care imaging capability (stroke CT interpretation and ED/ICU imaging)
• Self‑query NPDB report (issued within the last 30 days)

This role is best suited for candidates comfortable with high ED/inpatient volume, acute care imaging, and a predominantly non‑complex IR caseload with some tunneled catheter and occasional advanced procedures.
