Requirements

• Active, valid LPN license for the state of New Mexico
• BLS certification

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care under RN/physician direction: medication administration, wound care, vital signs, and basic assessments.
• Perform focused patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, following protocols and documenting administration.
• Manage wounds/incisions: evaluate, clean, dress, monitor for infection or complications.
• Monitor and record vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Provide patient and family education on conditions, medications, self-care, and preventive measures.
• Administer and monitor IV medications/fluids and maintain IV lines as permitted by scope of practice.
• Care for patients with urinary catheters: insertion (if in scope), maintenance, and complication monitoring.
• Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
• Assist with patient comfort, mobility, positioning, and basic pain management.
• Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support per protocol.
• Follow infection control practices and proper use of PPE.
• Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies safely and per regulations.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support continuity of care.
• May supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
