Location: Elkins, WV | Contract (Non-Travel) | Start: ASAP | Duration: 9 weeks
Schedule: 07:00 PM – 07:30 AM | Pay: Local $1,174 / 36 hours

Requirements:

  • Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
  • BLS certification

Overview:
Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician guidance for patients in a clinical setting. This role emphasizes safe medication administration, thorough assessments, accurate documentation, and teamwork to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care including medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring.
  • Conduct focused patient assessments (physical exams, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed treatments and medications with attention to dosing accuracy and protocol adherence.
  • Perform wound management: assess, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain comprehensive patient records, including treatments provided and medication administration.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Initiate and monitor IV therapy, ensuring proper line care and function when within scope of practice.
  • Provide catheter care, including insertion support, maintenance, and complication monitoring as appropriate.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing following facility procedures.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care and communicate changes.
  • Assist with patient comfort, mobility, positioning, and pain management.
  • Respond to emergencies using established protocols and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control practices, PPE use, and safe handling/disposal of medications and supplies.
  • Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and participate in patient advocacy.
  • Supervise and support CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Participate in ongoing education to remain current with nursing practices and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
