Rate: $914 / 36 hours (local)

Requirements:

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for the state of West Virginia
  • BLS certification

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician supervision, including medication administration, wound care, and vital signs monitoring
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and per protocol
  • Evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor wounds and surgical sites for infection or complications
  • Record and monitor vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) and document changes in patient condition
  • Maintain accurate patient records of treatments, medications, and clinical observations
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive measures
  • Administer and monitor IV medications and fluids; manage IV lines per policy
  • Provide catheter care (insertion not implied unless authorized), maintenance, and monitoring for complications
  • Collect and label patient specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care
  • Attend to patient comfort, mobility assistance, positioning, and basic pain management
  • Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support as required
  • Follow infection control practices and proper use of PPE
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies according to regulations
  • Advocate for patient needs and rights within the care team
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when applicable
  • Maintain continuing education and comply with nursing standards and facility policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
