Summary:
Contract (non-travel) Licensed Practical Nurse position in Camden, ME. Start ASAP for an 11-week assignment. Schedule: 06:45 AM–07:15 PM. Local rate: $1,098 per 36 hours.

Requirements:

  • Active, valid LPN license for the state of practice
  • BLS certification

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction, including medication administration, wound care, and vital-sign monitoring.
  • Perform focused patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care planning.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and in accordance with policy.
  • Assess, clean, dress, and manage wounds and surgical sites; monitor for infection or complications.
  • Monitor, record, and report vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain clear, timely documentation of care, treatments, and medications.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Manage IV therapy and monitor IV sites and fluids when within LPN scope of practice.
  • Provide catheter care, including insertion/maintenance and surveillance for complications.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing per protocol.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (RNs, physicians, therapists, support staff) to coordinate patient care.
  • Promote patient comfort and safety through positioning, mobility assistance, pain management, and fall prevention.
  • Respond to emergencies promptly and follow established protocols, including delivering basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control practices and appropriate use of PPE.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies in compliance with regulations.
  • Advocate for patient rights and needs and assist with health promotion activities such as vaccinations and screenings.
  • Supervise and delegate to CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when applicable.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and comply with facility policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
