We’re seeking a board-certified/board-eligible neurosurgeon to provide locum tenens coverage in Eureka, CA. This role covers both inpatient and outpatient care, supplementing an existing practice with one neurosurgeon and support from an APP and MA. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.

Coverage details

• Start: May 17, 2026 — ongoing
• Coverage type: Clinical duties plus call
• Service setting: Inpatient and outpatient
• Patient population: 100% adult
• Typical daily patient volume: ~5 patients
• Department beds/level: 12 ICU beds; Level III trauma center
• EMR: Epic

Scheduled shifts & call

• Regular shift: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Call: Nights 5:00 p.m.–8:30 a.m.; weekends 24-hour call
• Call type: beeper with a 20–30 minute response time
• Specific blocks to fill: May 17–25; June 1–8; July 3–10 and 20–27; Aug 17–24; Sep 21–28; Oct 26–Nov 2; Nov 9–16; Dec 21–28; Dec 28–Jan 4, 2027; ongoing thereafter

Clinical scope & procedures

• Spinal surgery with and without instrumentation
• Placement of intracranial pressure (ICP) monitors
• Supporting exam rooms: 2–3

Requirements

• Active California medical license
• BC/BE in Neurological Surgery (if BE, within 3–5 years of residency)
• DEA registration
• Active fluoroscopy license
• Submission of case logs
• Hospital privileges required
