Job Description
Bon Secours is hiring an Adult Geriatric Acute Care Trained Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for our team at Maryview Medical Center! This is a truly unique opportunity for a new grad OR an experienced AGACNP/PA to join our team and have the existing Physician Assistant still available for mentorship.
Provider Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified Advanced Practice RN or Physician Assistant certified in Acute Care Medicine
- Critical Care / Acute Care training in a Master's Program is required
- Must possess compassion for patients in an underserved community who are vulnerable and most in need
- Our patient population is highly acute and complex and a true desire to help these patients is essential
- Must have or obtain unrestricted Virginia practice license and DEA
- Must be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S.
- We are looking for a mature individual who handles stress well, is patient and kind to colleagues and patients alike, works well under pressure and works well with others.
This is a full time position working a combination of 12-hour shifts in the ICU. The hours are 7am - 8pm and 7pm - 8am. Rotating shifts between days and nights with increased autonomy during night shift. Shifts span days/nights/weekends/holidays. You will be working 13-14 shifts per month, or 2 to 4 per week. One weekend every 4 weeks.
The Work You'll Do:
- Work collaboratively with the attending physicians to formulate assessments and plans to treat critically ill patients.
- Perform and assist in procedures such as intubations, central line placements, arterial line placements, chest tubes, dialysis line placements, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and bronchoscopy
- Perform and assist in ACLS protocols and ventilator management.
- Work collaboratively with our training resident physicians as the Code Blue leader for all inpatients
- Learn to utilize ultrasound machines and become proficient in interpreting imaging.
- Autonomously conduct goals of care conversations with patients and families.
- Average 15-17 patients per day all age 18-100 - admissions and consults
