Overview
Seeking a Board-Certified Family Medicine physician to serve as Associate Medical Director in a managed-care administrative role. This clinically focused position provides operational leadership and medical oversight across utilization management, disease management, quality, and regulatory activities, with a transition from fully remote locum work to a hybrid permanent model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review prior authorizations and appeals for medical necessity
  • Conduct peer-to-peer provider reviews
  • Provide clinical oversight for utilization management, disease management, and quality programs
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of medical policies, clinical guidelines, and coverage rules
  • Analyze provider performance data and review provider applications and quality concerns
  • Assist the Sr. Medical Director with oversight and administration of fraud, waste & abuse programs and pharmacy coordination
  • Participate in regulatory interactions with state and local agencies and in managed care committee meetings
  • Support development and monitoring of annual organizational goals
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to job design, workflows, and operational processes
  • Apply medical expertise within operational and business contexts and interpret Texas Medicaid regulations
  • Demonstrate leadership, clear communication, and managed-care–oriented decision-making

Qualifications

  • Active Texas medical license or willingness to obtain
  • Board Certification in Family Medicine
  • Clean professional record (highly preferred)
  • Familiarity with Texas Medicaid regulations and managed-care operations

Work Arrangement & Transition

  • Fully remote during the locum assignment; transition to hybrid schedule upon permanent placement
  • Locum-to-perm conversion expected following the coverage period
