Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician — Franklin, LA (12-hour ED Shifts)

Join a team in Franklin, LA as a locum tenens emergency physician covering a busy community ED. You’ll work 12-hour day or night shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM), starting April 1, 2026, with ongoing coverage. This position is clinical-only and supports both inpatient and outpatient emergency care.

What you’ll see and do

• Care for patients of all ages with a general emergency medicine case mix (about 32 patients per day; ~12,130 visits/year).
• Provide initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, trauma and critical care stabilization, airway management, and resuscitation.
• Coordinate care and consult specialty backup (OB/GYN, cardiology, surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics) as needed.
• Document thoroughly and promptly in T System EV.
• Participate in interviews with the Medical Director and hospital administration when requested.
• Be available for phone consults as clinically appropriate.

Facility and support

• Small but fully equipped emergency department with 7 ED beds.
• 24-hour physician coverage and specialty backup available.
• EMR: T System EV.
• Reason for coverage: supplemental staffing.

Requirements

• Active Louisiana medical license.
• Board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine.
• Active DEA with Louisiana address.
• Certifications: ATLS, ACLS, PALS.
• Minimum of 2 years of emergency department experience.
• Willingness to work both day and night shifts; minimum 10–15 shifts per month.

Logistics and compensation

• Locum tenens arrangement. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.
