Job Description
We’re seeking a board-certified gastroenterologist to provide locum tenens inpatient coverage in Tampa, Florida. This role is primarily supplemental coverage and will support a busy hospital (Trauma Level II) using Cerner for charting. Temporary privileges are available, and travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.
Schedule and coverage
- Coverage period: ASAP through May 1, 2026
- Shift: Fridays–Sundays — in-house during the day, beeper coverage overnight
- Call type/response: In-house and beeper; 30-minute response time expected
- Clinical responsibilities include admissions and daily rounding
- High volume of phone consults; typical patient load: 15–25
Procedures and clinical expectations
- Upper GI endoscopy
- ERCP (with PEG)
- Esophageal dilation and manometry interpretation
- Small bowel biopsy
- Lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy
- Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
- Liver biopsy
- Insertion/management of Sengstaken-Blakemore tube
Requirements
- Active Florida medical license
- Board certified in Gastroenterology
- BLS and ACLS certified
