Join a hospital-based team in Mechanicsville, VA to provide inpatient gastroenterology locum tenens coverage. This supplemental, call-only assignment requires 24-hour coverage (7a–7a) for adult patients on the following weeks: Feb 23–27, Jun 29–Jul 3, Aug 17–21, Oct 12–16, and Dec 21–25, 2026–2027 (coverage period Feb 23, 2026–Jan 4, 2027). Department size: 225 beds; onsite lab and X‑ray; Epic EMR; no trauma designation. Temporary privileges available. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided.
Clinical expectations: manage an average volume of ~8 procedures/week and provide inpatient consults and call coverage. Procedures and skills required include ERCP; upper and lower endoscopy (EGD, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy); esophageal dilation and manometry interpretation; small bowel and liver biopsy; insertion/management of Sengstaken‑Blakemore tubes. EUS experience preferred.
Requirements: active Virginia medical license, board certification in gastroenterology, up-to-date flu and COVID vaccinations, and a clean professional record.
