We’re looking for a skilled LPN to join a busy care team in Lewiston for a 19-week contract. If you’re a licensed, compassionate nurse who enjoys hands-on patient care and working closely with RNs and physicians, this could be a great fit.
What you’ll need
- Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse state license
- Current BLS certification
What you’ll do
- Provide direct nursing care under RN/physician supervision, including medication administration, wound care, and monitoring vital signs.
- Perform patient assessments—take histories, complete physical checks, and review medications—to help develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, following facility protocols.
- Manage wounds and incisions: cleaning, dressing, monitoring for signs of infection or complications.
- Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) and report changes in patient condition.
- Keep clear, accurate patient records of assessments, treatments, and responses.
- Teach patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and self-care to support recovery and wellness.
- Administer and monitor IV medications and fluids when required, ensuring IV lines are functioning properly.
- Provide catheter care—insert when appropriate, maintain, and watch for complications.
- Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing as needed.
- Work collaboratively with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care.
- Attend to patient comfort and safety: assist with positioning, mobility, and pain management.
- Respond quickly in emergencies, following protocols and providing basic life support as necessary.
- Follow infection control practices, including proper hand hygiene and PPE use.
- Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies safely and in compliance with regulations.
- Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and help with health assessments and wellness education.
- Advocate for patients’ needs and rights within the healthcare system.
- Maintain professional growth by staying current with nursing best practices and required training.
- When needed, supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
If you’re ready to bring skill, compassion, and teamwork to a fast-paced clinical setting, we’d like to hear from you.
