We’re looking for a compassionate, reliable Licensed Practical Nurse to join a team in Peterborough, NH for a 14-week contract starting ASAP. This is a local, non-travel opportunity with a consistent evening shift schedule (Sun–Wed, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM).

Basic requirements

  • Active, valid LPN license for the state
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

What you’ll do

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction — medication administration, wound care, vital signs, and more.
  • Conduct focused patient assessments (physical checks, histories, medication reviews) and help develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, following established protocols.
  • Evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor wounds and surgical sites for signs of infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs and patient status consistently and accurately.
  • Maintain thorough patient records, noting condition changes, treatments given, and medication administration.
  • Teach patients and families about conditions, meds, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Start and monitor IVs and IV medications when required, ensuring lines are functioning and documented.
  • Provide catheter care, including routine maintenance and monitoring for complications.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for labs as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care.
  • Assist with patient comfort and safety — positioning, mobility support, and pain control.
  • Respond appropriately in emergencies and provide basic life support when necessary.
  • Follow infection control practices and use PPE correctly to prevent transmission.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies safely and in compliance with guidelines.
  • Support preventive care efforts (vaccinations, screenings) and participate in health assessments.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and needs to ensure they receive appropriate care.
  • Stay current with nursing best practices, continuing education, and facility policies.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned to ensure quality care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
