Location: Waterville, ME | Type: Contract (Non-Travel) | Start: ASAP | Duration: 8 weeks
Schedule: 05:45 AM–06:15 PM | Rate: $1,220 per 40 hours (local)
We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting. The LPN will work under the supervision of RNs and physicians to deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing services.
Requirements:
- Active LPN license in the state of Maine
- BLS certification
Key responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on nursing care including medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, catheter care, and routine assessments.
- Perform focused patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
- Monitor and document vital signs, changes in condition, treatments, and medication administration accurately and timely.
- Manage wound care: assess, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
- Administer and monitor IV medications and fluids; ensure proper line function and site care.
- Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing as required.
- Assist with patient comfort, mobility, positioning, and pain management; respond to patient needs promptly.
- Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive measures.
- Follow infection control protocols and safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies.
- Participate in emergency response, delivering basic life support and following facility protocols.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (RNs, physicians, therapists, support staff) to coordinate care.
- Advocate for patient rights and ensure appropriate care and resources are provided.
- Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and comply with regulatory and facility policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
