Join a team in Rio Rancho, NM as a Licensed Practical Nurse on a 12-week contract starting ASAP. This position works Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM. Travel pay: $1,523 per 36-hour week; Local pay: $1,120 per 36-hour week.
What we need from you
- An active, valid LPN license for the state.
- Current BLS certification.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll provide hands-on nursing care under the direction of RNs and physicians. Typical responsibilities include:
- Completing patient assessments (history, physical checks, medication review) and helping develop individualized care plans.
- Administering medications and treatments safely and according to protocol.
- Managing wound care: cleaning, dressing, monitoring for infection or complications.
- Monitoring and documenting vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) and any changes in condition.
- Accurately charting treatments, medications, and patient responses.
- Educating patients and families about conditions, medications, and self-care to support recovery and wellness.
- Starting, monitoring, and maintaining IV lines and IV medications/fluids as indicated.
- Caring for urinary catheters, including insertion, routine care, and monitoring for issues.
- Collecting specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing.
- Assisting with patient comfort and safety — positioning, mobility help, and pain management.
- Responding to emergencies using established protocols and providing basic life support when needed.
- Following infection control standards, including hand hygiene and PPE use.
- Handling, storing, and disposing of medications and supplies safely and according to policy.
- Promoting preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and supporting health assessments.
- Advocating for patients’ needs and rights within the care team.
- Working collaboratively with RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs, and support staff to ensure coordinated care.
- Occasionally supervising CNAs or other assistive staff as assigned.
- Participating in continuing education to stay current with best practices and regulations.
- Performing other duties as assigned by management.
