Job Description
We are seeking a board-certified Neurosurgeon to provide locum tenens inpatient coverage in Youngstown, OH. This is supplemental, call-only coverage beginning March 3, 2026 and continuing on an ongoing basis. Coverage needed initially March 3–10. Call schedule is 24-hour shifts (7:00 a.m.–7:00 a.m.), approximately one week per month. Cases are adult and geriatric with emergent admissions from the ED; average 1–2 emergent surgical cases per day. The practice includes two neurosurgeons and the hospital is a 403-bed Level I Trauma center.
Scope of practice:
- Emergency and trauma neurosurgery: hemorrhage control, clot evacuation, tumor resection, trauma repair
- Shunt placement and revision
- In-house Neuro-Interventional support
- Spine procedures: stabilization/reconstruction, vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty, fusion, laminectomy, discectomy
Facility & logistics:
- EMR: Epic
- Travel, lodging, and and malpractice insurance provided
Candidate requirements:
- Active Ohio medical license
- Board Certified in Neurosurgery
- Available for March coverage dates
- Recent self-query NPDB report (within 30 days)
- BLS and ACLS certifications
