Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Travel Emergency Room RN to provide high‑quality patient care across Alaska’s unique and diverse healthcare settings. This role offers the opportunity to work in both larger hospitals and small rural/tribal facilities, where strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and independence are essential. Travel nurses in Alaska experience a blend of adventure, culture, and meaningful community impact.
- Perform rapid and accurate assessment of patients experiencing medical and trauma emergencies
- Provide triage, stabilization, and emergency interventions according to facility protocols
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to initiate and manage patient care plans
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and emergency treatments
- Operate and interpret emergency equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, ventilators, and EKGs
- Respond to trauma, cardiac, respiratory, stroke, and behavioral health emergencies
- Maintain clear and timely documentation using the facility’s EMR
- Support patients and families through education and communication
- Float to related units as needed (depends on facility)
- Active RN license (Alaska RN license or ability to obtain before start date)
- 1–2+ years of recent ER nursing experience
- Certifications:
- BLS (required)
- ACLS (required)
- PALS (required)
- TNCC (strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in emergency nursing, trauma response, and critical decision‑making
- Ability to work independently in fast‑paced or low‑resource environments
- Experience with EMR systems
