Locum Tenens General Cardiologist — Las Cruces, NM (Inpatient/Outpatient; ASAP–Ongoing)

We’re seeking a General Cardiologist to join a team in Las Cruces, NM, covering both inpatient and outpatient services on a locum tenens basis. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to provide supplemental clinical coverage starting ASAP and continuing ongoing.

Schedule and Setting

• Typical workweek: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM.
• Service setting includes clinic and hospital rounds (physicians rotate assigned weeks for hospital coverage).
• Patient population: adults 18 and older.
• Typical daily patient load: 15–20 patients.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Outpatient cardiology care and non-invasive cardiology, including echocardiography.
• Interpret walk-in EKGs and hospital echocardiograms.
• Provide inpatient coverage as scheduled; rounding is required.
• Full availability is required while on assignment.

Support and Resources

• Department: 22 beds; hospital has 168 beds with 23 ICU beds; Trauma Level III.
• Exam rooms: 22.
• Support staff: 2 NPs, 5 CMAs (1–2 per physician), 2 patient-care coordinators, and 5 front desk/check-out staff.
• EMR systems: Athena (outpatient), Cliniview & MedHost (inpatient).
• Hospital privileges are required for this assignment.
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance will be covered.

Requirements

• Active New Mexico medical license.
• BC/BE in Cardiology with an ACGME/AOA-accredited fellowship in cardiovascular disease.
• BLS and ACLS certification.
• Provide case logs.
