Location: Fredericksburg, VA | Type: Contract (Non-Travel) | Start: ASAP | Duration: 14 weeks | Schedule: Sun–Sat, 07:00 AM–03:30 PM | Rate: Local $1,140/40 hrs

Overview:
Provide direct patient care under RN or physician oversight in a fast-paced clinical setting. Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing interventions, accurate documentation, and patient education while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to promote positive outcomes.

Required credentials:

  • Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
  • BLS certification

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform focused patient assessments, obtain histories, and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and according to protocol; monitor for effects and side effects.
  • Provide wound care, dressing changes, and monitor incisions for infection or complications.
  • Monitor, record, and report vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain accurate charting.
  • Insert, manage, and monitor IV lines and administer IV medications/fluids as appropriate.
  • Care for urinary catheters, including insertion, maintenance, and complication monitoring.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Promote patient comfort, mobility, and pain management; respond to emergencies and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Follow infection control standards and proper PPE use; handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies safely.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and coordinate with RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs, and support staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and comply with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
