Rate: Local: $1,012 / 36 hours

Requirements

  • Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license for New Mexico
  • BLS certification (current)

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician supervision: administer medications, perform wound care, monitor vital signs.
  • Conduct patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and per protocol.
  • Manage wounds and incisions: evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respiration) and changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain accurate patient records of assessments, interventions, medications, and outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, self-care, and preventive measures.
  • Administer and monitor IV medications and fluids, and manage IV lines as authorized by facility policy.
  • Provide catheter care: insertion (if within scope), routine maintenance, and complication monitoring.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing according to protocol.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (RNs, physicians, therapists, support staff) to coordinate care.
  • Assist with patient comfort and safety: positioning, mobility support, and basic pain management.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support according to facility protocols.
  • Follow infection control practices, including hand hygiene and appropriate use of PPE.
  • Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and medical supplies per regulations.
  • Support health promotion efforts (vaccinations, screenings) and advocate for patient rights and needs.
  • Supervise or delegate tasks to CNAs or UAPs when appropriate and within scope of practice.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.

Licensure and certifications must be current and verifiable prior to assignment.
