Locum Tenens Obstetrics/Gynecology Physician — Inpatient/Outpatient, Elkins WV

We’re seeking an experienced OB/GYN to provide locum tenens coverage in Elkins, West Virginia, starting 04/16/2026 for an ongoing 6-month assignment. This role combines inpatient and outpatient care with clinical duties and 24-hour call coverage.

Schedule and Coverage

• Clinical shifts: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
• On-call: 24-hour call coverage
• Coverage period: Begins 04/16/2026 and continues (estimated need: 510 shifts/month)
• Service setting: Full labor & delivery and routine gynecology in a Level IV trauma center

Patient population and scope of care

• Care for obstetric and gynecologic patients with admissions
• Full-scope obstetrical services: prenatal management, delivery support (vaginal and cesarean), postpartum care, and management of obstetric emergencies
• Routine and procedural gynecology: IUD/Nexplanon insertion and removal, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, LEEP, vulvar biopsy, Bartholin cyst I&D, and other gynecologic procedures as needed on call
• Provide inpatient OB/GYN consults and surgical management

Facility and support

• Department size: 110 beds
• Trauma level: IV
• EMR: Paragon
• Equipment: Standard labor & delivery and surgical equipment available
• Support: Hospital-based specialty backup, OR and L&D staff available
• Reason for coverage: Supplemental locum call coverage

Privileges, credentialing, and compliance

• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges or IMLC accepted
• Credentialing timeline: approximately 60 days

Required qualifications

• Active West Virginia medical license preferred; IMLC accepted
• Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology
• DEA registration
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum of 1 year OB/GYN experience
• Ability to independently manage comprehensive labor and delivery coverage

Primary responsibilities

• Provide continuous 24-hour OB/GYN call coverage
• Manage labor and delivery patients and obstetric emergencies (vaginal and cesarean deliveries)
• Perform gynecologic procedures as clinically indicated during call
• Evaluate and manage inpatient OB/GYN consults and coordinate surgical care
• Collaborate with L&D and OR teams to ensure smooth, continuous patient care
• Document encounters and procedures in the Paragon EMR
