Join a supportive team in Enterprise, AL, as a pediatric hospitalist providing supplemental, call-only coverage for inpatient newborns and pediatric patients. This locum tenens role starts ASAP and continues on an ongoing basis. You’ll primarily cover births—there’s no ER or OR call-back responsibility.

What to expect

• Coverage type: 24-hour beeper call, typically one weekend per month and some holidays
• Call ratio: 1:1 with a 30-minute response time
• Callback frequency: approximately 5%
• Phone consults: 2–5 per shift
• Typical patient volume: about 5 patients; admissions are rare (around 5)
• Rounding: yes, on assigned patients
• Department: 6 beds, Pediatric Level III

Clinical responsibilities and procedures
You’ll manage routine and acute newborn and pediatric inpatient care, including:

• Non-invasive ventilation (NeoPuff) and invasive ventilation management
• Endotracheal and nasotracheal intubation
• Conscious and deep sedation
• Central and arterial line placement (C-lines, A-lines, UVC, UAC)
• Lumbar puncture
• Paracentesis and thoracentesis
• Chest tube insertion and needle decompression for pneumothorax
• X-ray and EKG interpretation
• Suturing minor lacerations, circumcision, and swallow studies

Logistics and support

• EMR: MedHost
• Temporary privileges available
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice coverage provided

Requirements

• Active Alabama medical license or participation in IMLC
• Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
