Locums Neurosurgery Physician

We are seeking a Board-Certified Neurosurgery Physician for locum tenens coverage at a Level I Trauma facility in Lakewood, Colorado. This role requires 24-hour primary call coverage and a high level of expertise in general neurosurgery, trauma, and spine. The physician will provide independent neurosurgical care for critically ill and trauma patients in a fast-paced environment.

 

Schedule & Coverage

• Shift: 24-hour call (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• On-Call Requirements: Yes
• Call Structure: 24-hour call with 8 gratis hours
• Coverage Model: Primary neurosurgery call, 24/7/365

 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive neurosurgical coverage for a Level I Trauma Center
• Manage acute neurosurgical trauma, spine, and general neurosurgery cases
• Independently manage ICU care for severely traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients
• Perform operative and non-operative management of brain tumors and complex neurosurgical conditions
• Serve as the primary neurosurgical decision-maker for inpatient trauma cases

 

Required Procedures & Experience

• Recent Level I Trauma Center experience (within the last year)
• Proficiency in:
• External Ventricular Drain (EVD) placement
• Intracranial pressure (ICP) bolt placement
• Craniectomy and craniotomy
• Spine procedures
• Intensive care management of severe TBI patients
• General neurosurgery and trauma-related procedures

 

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Neurological Surgery
• Active Colorado Medical License or IMLC with Letter of Qualification (LOQ) in hand at time of submission
• Active DEA
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to practice independently in a high-acuity trauma environment
