Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant — Flexible Shifts in Brownsville/Weslaco, TX

Locum tenens opportunity in Brownsville and Weslaco, TX, providing clinical-only emergency medicine coverage in inpatient and outpatient settings. Coverage begins July 15, 2026, with ongoing assignments and a flexible shift schedule to be determined by facility needs.

Scope of care

• Treat adult and geriatric patients presenting with acute illness, minor trauma, and urgent-care emergencies.
• Perform emergency evaluation, stabilization, and disposition planning.
• Provide procedural care including suturing and wound management, splinting and basic fracture care, basic airway management, and emergency diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

Facility and support

• Work within Valley Baptist Health System facilities equipped with standard ED resources.
• Access to specialty backup and multidisciplinary support as available.
• Supported by RNs and clinical support staff.
• Coverage requested to assist with cross-credentialing needs.

Credentials and requirements

• Active Texas PA license and NCCPA certification.
• Active DEA registration.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• Prior emergency medicine experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced ED.
• Hospital privileges required.

Clinical responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostics and imaging, and develop treatment plans.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied staff to ensure timely, high-quality care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR.
