Locum Tenens Internal Medicine/Family Medicine Physician — $155/hr, Correctional & Long-Term Care Lead (Portage, WI)

We’re looking for a dedicated physician to join a team in Portage, WI for a 26-week locum tenens assignment starting ASAP. You’ll work a daytime shift (07:00 AM–03:30 PM) and the pay is $155/hr.

What we’re hoping you bring

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Active, unrestricted medical license
• Correctional healthcare experience is strongly preferred
• Experience caring for older adults with multiple co-morbidities
• Background in long-term care or chronic care management is a big plus
• Strong leadership, clear communication, and solid clinical judgment

What you’ll do

• Provide medical leadership and clinical oversight for healthcare services at the facility
• Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies, procedures, and standards of care
• Ensure the facility stays compliant with state, federal, and correctional healthcare regulations
• Supervise, mentor, and support physicians and advanced practice providers
• Manage and review complex medical cases, especially chronic disease and long-term care needs
• Work closely with nursing, mental health, administrative, and security teams to coordinate care
• Take part in quality assurance, peer review, and performance improvement activities
• Handle clinical risk management, utilization review, and medical grievances as needed
