Location: Waterville, ME | Start: ASAP | Duration: 5 weeks | Schedule: 06:00 PM–06:30 AM | Type: Contract (Local) | Rate: $1,138 / 36 hours

Requirements:

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
  • BLS certification

Overview:
Provide direct patient care under RN or physician direction in a fast-paced clinical setting. Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing interventions, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform focused patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments per orders, ensuring accurate dosing and adherence to protocols.
  • Monitor, document, and respond to vital signs and changes in patient condition.
  • Provide wound care: assess, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
  • Insert, manage, and monitor IV lines and IV medications/fluids when within scope of practice.
  • Provide catheter care, including insertion, maintenance, and surveillance for complications.
  • Collect and prepare specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Support patient comfort and safety through positioning, mobility assistance, and basic pain management.
  • Respond to emergencies, perform basic life support as needed, and follow established protocols.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, including hand hygiene and appropriate use of PPE.
  • Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies in accordance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care; may supervise CNAs or unlicensed personnel as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care, treatments, and patient progress.
  • Advocate for patient rights and needs and participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
