Rate: Local: $882/36-hours

Overview:
Seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to provide compassionate, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting. This contract role emphasizes accurate assessment, safe medication and wound management, thorough documentation, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Required:

  • Active LPN license in the state of Alabama
  • BLS certification

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction, including medication administration, wound care, and vital signs monitoring.
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, following protocols and safety standards.
  • Manage wound care: assess, cleanse, dress, and monitor for signs of infection or complications.
  • Continuously monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain precise, timely patient records, including treatments and medication administration.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and prevention measures.
  • Initiate and monitor IV therapy and manage urinary catheters per facility policy.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care.
  • Support patient comfort and safety (positioning, mobility assistance, pain management).
  • Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control practices, proper PPE use, and safe handling/disposal of medications and supplies.
  • Promote preventive health measures and advocate for patient rights and needs.
  • Participate in ongoing education to maintain competency; may supervise CNAs or assistive personnel as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to ensure high-quality patient care.
