Contract, non-travel Licensed Practical Nurse position in Silver City, NM. Start ASAP for a 13-week assignment. Schedule: 06:00 AM–06:30 PM. Local rate: $1,138/36-hours.

Requirements:

  • Active, valid LPN license for the state of New Mexico
  • Current BLS certification

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician supervision, including medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring.
  • Conduct patient assessments—physical exams, medical history, and medication review—to inform individualized care plans.
  • Accurately administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with protocols.
  • Assess, clean, dress, and monitor wounds, incisions, and related complications.
  • Continually monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) and changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain clear, timely patient records of treatments, medications, and clinical observations.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Administer and monitor IV medications and fluids; ensure proper IV line care and function.
  • Provide urinary catheter care, including insertion support, maintenance, and complication monitoring.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing as required.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team—RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff—to coordinate care.
  • Support patient comfort and safety through positioning, mobility assistance, and pain management.
  • Respond to medical emergencies following established protocols and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control practices, including hand hygiene and appropriate use of PPE.
  • Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and medical supplies per regulations.
  • Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and assist with health assessments.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and needs within the care team and facility.
  • Pursue ongoing education to stay current with nursing best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • May supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
