We’re looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join a supportive team in Albuquerque for a short-term contract. This role is hands-on and patient-focused, perfect if you enjoy working directly with patients and collaborating with other clinicians to deliver safe, compassionate care.

What you’ll need

  • Active, valid LPN license for the state of New Mexico
  • Current BLS certification

What you’ll be doing (day-to-day)

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction — think medication administration, wound care, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exams, medical history, medication review) to help develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and follow established protocols.
  • Care for wounds and incisions: cleaning, dressing, monitoring for signs of infection or complications.
  • Regularly check and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) and report significant changes.
  • Keep clear, accurate patient records detailing condition changes, treatments given, and medications administered.
  • Teach patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and self-care to support recovery and wellness.
  • Administer and monitor IV medications and fluids, ensure IV lines are functioning and properly maintained.
  • Manage urinary catheters (insertion, routine care, monitoring for issues) when required.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing following proper procedures.
  • Work closely with RNs, physicians, therapists, and other staff to coordinate care and ensure smooth patient transitions.
  • Attend to patient comfort and safety needs, including positioning, mobility assistance, and basic pain management.
  • Act quickly and calmly in emergencies, providing BLS and following facility protocols.
  • Follow infection control standards — hand hygiene, PPE use, and safe handling of sharps and biohazard materials.
  • Store, handle, and dispose of medications and supplies in line with regulations.
  • Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and participate in health assessments and education.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and needs, ensuring they receive appropriate, respectful care.
  • Stay up-to-date on nursing best practices and regulatory requirements through ongoing education.
  • Supervise CNAs or other unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned to ensure high-quality care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

If you’re a dependable LPN who values teamwork and patient-centered care, this shift-friendly contract in Albuquerque could be a great fit.
