LPN/LVN (Licensed Practical Nurse) – Long Term Care, Night Shift (Gallup, NM)

Contract (non-travel) Licensed Practical Nurse position in Gallup, NM. Start ASAP for a 9-week assignment. Schedule: 07:00 PM–07:30 AM. Local rate: $1,242 per 36 hours.

Requirements:

• Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
• BLS certification

Key responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician supervision, including medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, catheter care, and vital sign monitoring.
• Conduct focused patient assessments (physical exams, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
• Administer prescribed treatments and medications accurately and in accordance with protocols; monitor effects and report changes.
• Perform wound management (cleaning, dressing, monitoring for infection/complications).
• Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing and ensure proper handling and documentation.
• Maintain accurate, timely patient records documenting condition changes, treatments, and medications.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, preventive measures, and wellness promotion.
• Support patient comfort, safety, mobility, and pain management; respond to emergencies using established protocols and BLS as needed.
• Follow infection control practices and proper use/disposal of PPE and medical supplies.
• Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies in line with regulations.
• Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care; may supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when applicable.
• Advocate for patient rights and ensure appropriate care and resources.
• Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
