Basic requirements

  • Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for the state of New Mexico

What you’ll do

  • Provide hands-on nursing care under RN or physician direction — medication administration, wound care, vital signs, and routine bedside nursing.
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) to help develop individualized care plans.
  • Safely administer medications and treatments, following dosing instructions and facility protocols.
  • Manage wounds and incisions: assess, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or other complications.

  • Maintain accurate, timely patient records, including changes in condition, treatments given, and medication administration.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, self-care, and wellness strategies to support recovery and prevention.
  • Start and monitor IVs and IV medications when required; ensure lines are functioning and complications are identified quickly.
  • Provide care related to urinary catheters (insertion, maintenance, and monitoring for issues).
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for testing and ensure proper labeling and handling.
  • Assist with patient comfort, mobility, positioning, and pain management to promote safety and quality of life.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies, following protocols and delivering basic life support when needed.
  • Work collaboratively with RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs, and other staff to coordinate patient-centered care.
  • When assigned, supervise CNAs or other unlicensed assistive personnel to ensure care standards are met.
  • Follow strict infection control practices, including hand hygiene and proper use of PPE.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies safely and according to regulations.
  • Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and participate in health assessments and education.
  • Stay current with nursing practices, policies, and continuing education requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
