Location: Newport, VT | Type: Contract (Non-Travel) | Start: ASAP | Duration: 16 weeks
Schedule: Mon–Wed, 07:00 AM–07:30 PM | Rate: Local $1,051 / 36 hours
We are seeking a licensed practical nurse to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in Newport, Vermont. This 16-week contract role requires a skilled LPN who can work collaboratively with the healthcare team to deliver safe, effective nursing services.
Required qualifications:
- Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse state license
- BLS certification
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician guidance, including medication administration, wound care, and monitoring vital signs
- Conduct patient assessments (physical exams, medical history, medication review) to support individualized care plans
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and per protocol
- Evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor wounds, incisions, and injuries for signs of infection or complications
- Obtain and document vital signs and other clinical observations precisely
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate patient records documenting condition changes, treatments, and medications
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures
- Administer and monitor IV medications and fluids; manage IV lines safely
- Provide catheter care, including insertion, maintenance, and monitoring for complications
- Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care
- Attend to patient comfort and safety needs, including positioning, mobility assistance, and pain management
- Respond quickly to medical emergencies and provide basic life support as needed
- Follow infection control policies and appropriate use of PPE
- Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies according to regulations
- Advocate for patients’ rights and needs within the healthcare setting
- Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when applicable
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with nursing best practices
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
