Shifts: Approximately 4 shifts/month. Shift blocks include 24–96 hours; examples: 7a–7a, 7p–7a, 7a–5p. Specific dates available (candidate should be available for some listed dates).
Clinical responsibilities
- Manage labor & delivery unit: triage, monitor, and manage patients.
- Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
- Evaluate and manage high- and low-risk obstetric patients, obstetric emergencies, urgent gynecologic consultations, and urgent GYN surgeries.
- Provide education and mentoring to residents and staff.
- Assist OBGYN colleagues with complex surgical cases as needed.
Service volume and support
- Average births: 500–600/year.
- OBGYN staffing: 1 general FTE, 1 FTE, 1 PT, 3 PRN.
- APPs: 5 (2 ARNPs, 2 PAs, 1 midwife).
- Nursing: 1:1 support with additional hospital/birth center resources.
- Care team includes family medicine residents/faculty, EFM-certified nurses/providers, 24/7 pediatric hospitalists, NICU nurses, pharmacists, L&D/postpartum RNs, MAs/LPNs, CLC, IBCLC.
Clinical services available onsite
- Routine prenatal/postnatal care; annual breast and pelvic exams; Pap smears; abnormal Pap/HPV management.
- Contraception counseling and procedures; infertility and urinary incontinence treatments; hormone replacement; management of menstrual irregularities.
- Pelvic prolapse repairs, permanent sterilization.
- Ultrasound imaging.
- Onsite ancillary services: medical imaging, laboratory, pharmacy.
- EMR: Epic.

Requirements
- Board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Active Iowa medical license.
- Clean professional/disciplinary record.
- Availability to cover some listed dates.
