Job Description

An ACS-Verified Level I Trauma Center in Lansing, MI is seeking a Locums Plastic Surgery Physician to provide 24-hour trauma call coverage. The facility currently has a coverage shortfall of approximately 19 days per month, offering consistent ongoing opportunities.

This role focuses primarily on trauma-related plastic and hand surgery cases in an emergency setting, with clinic support available through the Trauma Clinic.

Schedule & Call

Shift: 24-Hour On-Call Coverage (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
Call Required: Yes
Call Ratio: Negotiable
Weekend Requirements: N/A (based on coverage needs)

Practice Setting

24-hour trauma call coverage
ACS Verified Level I Trauma Center
Annual ER Volume: 90,000
Patient Population: Ages 15+ (adolescent through geriatric)

Case Volume

Average: 1 surgical case per month
Summer months: Approximately 3 per month

Clinical Responsibilities

In-person response when procedures are required
Evaluation and management of traumatic injuries
Collaboration with trauma and surgical teams
Participation in Trauma Clinic support:

Tuesdays, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
SPB Suite 600

Required Procedures

Hand-related procedures
Traumatic hand reconstruction
Facial laceration repair
Scar revisions
Skin grafts
Flap procedures
Minor burn care
General plastic surgery procedures related to trauma

Requirements

Board Certified in Plastic Surgery
Active Michigan medical license
BLS and ACLS certifications
