Locum Tenens General Medicine Nurse Practitioner (Outpatient C&P Exams)

We’re looking for a Family Medicine/General Nurse Practitioner to support outpatient clinics in Lake City, FL on a locum tenens basis. This is a supplemental, clinical-only role starting ASAP and continuing ongoing. You’ll primarily perform one-time, non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and separation health assessments — these are largely interview-based with some focused physical testing (range of motion, muscle strength). No prescribing or treatment is required.

Schedule and setting

• Outpatient clinics in Lake City, FL
• Per diem: 2 days per week (half day — 4 hours, or full day — 4–8 hours)
• Weekend availability is a plus if you want or if the clinic needs it

Clinical duties

• Conduct one-time C&P exams and separation health assessments
• Focus on history-taking plus targeted physical assessments (ROM, muscle strength testing)
• Routine use of a goniometer
• Familiarity with musculoskeletal complaints, diabetes, and cardiovascular issues
• No treatment or prescribing responsibilities
• Complete evaluations in the VES provider portal; most assignments include record review
• Training will be provided for completing Reporting/Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs)

Who we welcome

• Providers from Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or anyone with strong general medicine background or compensation & pension experience
• Willingness to obtain any required additional certifications or training as needed

Requirements

• Active Florida license
• Board-certified (BC)
• Own a laptop (Windows required; no Apple/Mac) and have a private office space for documentation
• DMA certification or willingness to obtain it
• Reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Self-query NPDB (pulled within the last month)
• Copy of ECFMG certificate if you attended medical school outside the U.S.
• Proficient in METs testing and in evaluating/diagnosing respiratory and cardiovascular conditions
