Requirements

• Completion of an approved LPN/LVN program
• Current LPN/LVN license to practice in Texas or a Nurse Licensure Compact state
• Preferred: 1+ year experience in behavioral health or residential care
• Current American Heart Association CPR certification
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Basic computer and EHR documentation skills preferred

Core Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, treatment, and general welfare for residents with complex medical and behavioral needs
• Perform routine and advanced vocational nursing tasks during assigned shifts
• Administer medications and treatments (oral, rectal, topical, injection) per orders and regulations
• Collect specimens, perform health screenings, and monitor responses to treatments and procedures
• Perform technical nursing procedures according to facility and state protocols
• Educate residents on health goals and treatment plans
• Instruct and support staff in delivering care that meets residents’ medical needs
• Assist with turning/repositioning during treatments when required
• Ensure availability and proper use of medical and treatment supplies
• Maintain accurate medical records in the EHR or paper charts; document and report observations to the care team
• Respond to emergencies and follow safety and infection-control procedures
• Work under limited RN supervision, applying independent judgment
• Maintain regular attendance and work assigned/rotating shifts as required
