Join Adelphi as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to deliver skilled nursing care at a residential facility in Carlsbad, Texas. The position supports individuals with complex medical and behavioral health needs in a contract role (minimum 6 months) with rotating shifts.

Required qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved LVN program
  • Active LVN license to practice in Texas or a Nurse Licensure Compact state
  • Current American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Availability to work assigned/rotating shifts and maintain regular attendance

Preferred

  • 1+ years’ experience in behavioral health or residential care
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and basic computer skills

Core responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care and treatments for residents with medical and behavioral health needs
  • Perform routine and advanced nursing tasks within LVN scope of practice, including medication administration (oral, rectal, internal, injection) and clinical procedures per facility and state regulations
  • Collect specimens, conduct health screenings, and monitor responses to treatments and procedures
  • Maintain accurate medical records in EHR or paper charts; document and report observations to the care team
  • Educate residents on individualized health goals and instruct staff in care practices that support medical needs
  • Assist staff with safe patient handling (repositioning/turning) during treatments
  • Ensure availability and proper management of medical and treatment supplies
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and adhere to safety and infection control protocols
  • Work under limited RN supervision, exercising independent judgment within scope
