We’re looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join a care team in St. Albans, VT on a 14‑week contract beginning ASAP. This is a PM shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM). Travel pay: $1,832/40 hrs; local pay: $1,336/40 hrs.
What you’ll need
- Active, valid LPN license for the state you’ll practice in
- Current BLS certification
What you’ll do
You’ll provide hands‑on nursing care while collaborating with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to keep patients safe and comfortable. Typical responsibilities include:
- Conducting focused patient assessments (vitals, brief physical checks, med history) and helping develop individualized care plans
- Administering medications and treatments accurately and following facility protocols
- Managing wound care—cleaning, dressing, and monitoring for infection or complications
- Monitoring and documenting vital signs and changes in condition thoroughly
- Starting, monitoring, and maintaining IVs and IV medications as required
- Caring for urinary catheters (insertion, routine care, and surveillance for issues)
- Collecting specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing
- Educating patients and families about diagnoses, meds, and self‑care strategies
- Assisting with mobility, positioning, pain management, and other comfort measures
- Responding to emergencies and providing basic life support when needed
- Following strict infection control practices and properly handling/disposing of meds and supplies
- Promoting preventive care (immunizations, screenings) and advocating for patients’ rights and needs
- Occasionally supervising CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel to ensure quality care
- Maintaining accurate, timely documentation of care and any changes in patient condition
- Staying up to date with nursing best practices through ongoing learning
- Performing other duties assigned by management
