Rate: Local: $1,213 / 36 hours

Required credentials

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for the state of New Mexico
  • BLS certification

Core responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction: medication administration, wound care, vital signs, and basic procedures.
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and per protocol.
  • Evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor wounds, incisions, and injuries for infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) and changes in condition.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including treatments, medications, and nursing observations.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventative health measures.
  • Administer and monitor IV medications/fluids and maintain IV lines as within LPN scope.
  • Provide urinary catheter care (insertion when permitted by policy, maintenance, monitoring for complications).
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing according to procedure.
  • Assist with patient comfort and safety: positioning, mobility support, pain management.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support per facility protocols.
  • Follow infection control practices, including hand hygiene and appropriate use of PPE.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies per regulations.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs, and other staff to coordinate care.
  • May supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Maintain current knowledge of nursing practices and complete required training.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
