Location: Las Cruces, NM | Type: Contract (Non-Travel) | Start: ASAP | Duration: 9 weeks | Shift: 6:00 PM–6:30 AM | Rate: Local $1,152/36 hours

We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse to provide skilled, compassionate care in a fast-paced clinical setting. This contract position offers an immediate start and a night shift schedule. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced in nursing fundamentals and basic emergency response.

Minimum Requirements

  • Active, unencumbered LPN license for the state of New Mexico
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction, including medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring
  • Perform focused patient assessments (physical exams, histories, medication reviews) and contribute to individualized care plans
  • Administer and document medications and treatments accurately, following protocols and safety guidelines
  • Assess, clean, dress, and monitor wounds and surgical sites for signs of infection or complications
  • Monitor and record vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain accurate patient records
  • Insert, maintain, and monitor IV lines and administer IV medications/fluids as delegated and per facility policy
  • Manage urinary catheters (insertion, care, monitoring) and perform specimen collection (blood, urine, sputum) for testing
  • Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures
  • Assist with mobility, positioning, comfort, and pain management; respond to emergencies and provide basic life support as needed
  • Follow infection control procedures and safe handling, storage, and disposal of medications and supplies
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care; may supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned
  • Advocate for patient rights and participate in ongoing professional development
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
